Account Manager – Public Affairs

This is an exciting opportunity to join FleishmanHillard UK’s award-winning Public Affairs Practice as an Account Manager.

In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of integrated public affairs strategies, getting to grips with policy, crafting creative campaigns, managing projects, and ensuring the smooth running of your accounts.

You will act as a trusted advisor for your clients and play an important part in the development of public affairs programmes that address their objectives and business priorities.

You will play an active role in new business generation, whether networking, prospecting, developing a proposal or pitching.

You will provide oversight to junior members of the team and take responsibility for leading teams across defined projects; overseeing consultants and junior staff including across practices. You will motivate colleagues and set a positive example in terms of team spirit and proactivity.

The Responsibilities


Exceptional client service

Be the day-to-day delivery lead on a portfolio of client accounts. This will involve managing delivery, contributing to strategy and utilizing senior counsel.

Ensuring a high standard of work and superior client service, always with an eye to driving the satisfaction that supports client retention and growth.


Strategy & creative

Be a trusted advisor. Our clients want thought partnership, which means you need to know their issues as well as they do and offer smart strategic thinking to help them stay ahead of the political/regulatory agenda impacting their business.

Creative thinking. Push the boundaries of public affairs practice and to offer our clients bold ideas that will enhance their reputations and impact.

Operations & administration

Contribute to the management and reporting of client work in progress, hours and budgets.


Business development

Developing new business through personal networking and lead generation, responding to external briefs, developing relationships across FH London practices to identify and secure organic growth, and playing a significant role in proposals and pitches.

Helping to shape our broader Public Affairs offering in a fast moving, dynamic marketplace, where your ideas will really count, and you will have the opportunity to lead initiatives.



Developing integrated campaigns, working with media and digital specialists across the business while leading on public affairs activations.

Contributing to office, global and regional network initiatives, knowledge sharing and training.


Inspiring, mentoring and motivating junior team members to build a highly engaged and productive team.

Deliver continuous feedback; take every opportunity to be inclusive, provide guidance, counsel and support to colleagues


About you:

Has a real passion for politics, with advanced knowledge of Westminster and Whitehall, and can advise our clients on how to communicate with political stakeholders effectively.

Is an all-rounder; policy expert, researcher, communicator and advisor. Someone who will confidently bring their own ideas and thinking to the table.

Is a brilliant writer, and whose written work is both analytical, well-structured and accurate.

Is commercially aware, with a clear ability to translate knowledge of policy developments into commercial impacts.

Brings a creative and an integrated communications mindset. Previous experience of digital communications or media relations would be desirable. We like to push the boundaries of traditional public affairs.
