The Digital Portfolio Editorial Team sits at the heart of the BBC, online. We connect audiences with the BBC’s content on desktop, mobile, tablet, Red Button and Connected TV services.
We produce the BBC homepage (www.bbc.co.uk), trusted by 8 million people a week to take them to the best of the BBC’s online offering. We also produce imagery for BBC Sounds, add vital editorial colour and direction to the BBC’s topics pages and recommendations, and support and promote Red Button services used by more than 17m people a week.
As an Assistant Content Producer you’ll work on a wide range of editorial production, monitoring and research tasks.
The BBC Digital Portfolio editorial team is a multi-skilled team, and we work across a range of tasks and services. One day, you could be finding and promoting timely and relevant content on the bbc.co.uk Homepage and sourcing great content for upcoming seasons and events. The next, you could be finding, creating and editing images or producing promotions on our connected TV services.
This role will be responsible for sourcing and presenting the most imaginative and compelling BBC content to our audiences, and growing and developing audiences for the BBC, online.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate great digital content production skills, and experience of curating and presenting content in different ways to appeal to audiences.
You will be know how to use audience research and data to inform and improve editorial choices and decisions, and will be able to select and edit compelling imagery to illustrate a range of content.
You feel comfortable learning new technical tools and systems, and can convey your ideas to a wide range of people across different levels within the business. Excellent organisational skills to lay out and share planning thoughts using tools such as Excel will also be key to the role.
Finally, you will have a good awareness of the editorial and legal issues that may arise when working in digital production.
