Solicitor Apprentice

The Premier League are looking to recruit two Solicitor Apprentices to join its in-house Legal Services Department. The individuals must be available to commence in September 2023.

 

The Role: 

 

The role of a Solicitor Apprentice will be the opportunity to gain a wide range of experience and knowledge across legal matters affecting the Premier League. Your responsibilities will change overtime as you become more experienced.

 

 

Throughout your apprenticeship you will spend time in each of the Premier League’s specialist in-house legal teams including, Commercial and Compliance, Regulatory and Intellectual Property Enforcement. There will also be an opportunity to work across the operations of the legal department. During the apprenticeship, you will spend up to one year at one of the Premier League’s instructed law firms.

 

 

You can expect to be involved with all the below tasks during your time as a Solicitor Apprentice:

  • Assisting with the contracting process
  • Assisting with investigations of breaches of Premier League Rules
  • Compiling reports and assisting with preparation of correspondence with clubs
  • Minute and note taking at meetings
  • Helping to manage IP protection programmes
  • Helping to compile reports and presentations to international broadcast partners
  • Carrying out legal research
  • Drafting correspondence to instructed law firms
  • Assisting to answer legal queries received from the public
  • Helping to organise and execute events hosted by the Legal Services Department
  • Presenting at internal team meetings
  • Handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Completing a range of administrative tasks

Requirements of the role: 

  • You must have a strong intention to pursue a career as a solicitor.
  • You must have a minimum of:
  • 5 GCSEs, including mathematics and English at grade 4 or above (or equivalent); and
  • 3 A Levels (or equivalent) at grade C or above.
  • Communication skills (written and verbal) will be vital to the role of an apprentice solicitor. You should also be able to demonstrate attributes that would make you a competent in-house solicitor apprentice, such as a willingness to learn and work collaboratively within a team.
  • You must have the right to work and study in the UK.
